Silence
Alone,
he sits alone
surrounded by
heather and moss and stone
and all the world
he wishes to disown
Empty,
he lies empty
surrounded by
meaningless possessions of plenty
and all the world
reinforcing his disillusioned twenties
Hide,
he crouches and hides
surrounded by
a love that has already died
and all the world
he cannot abide
Care,
he stands without a care
surrounded by a
wilderness barren and bare
and all the world
he has no wish to share
And all this time
he shuffles around
his ears alert
for that silent sound
his eyes alive
for a loneliness found
his touch straining
for emptiness to surround
