Sights and Sounds
Sunsets seen through stained glass
Dust motes drifting in beams of light
The eerie emptiness of echoes
That shatter the silence of night
The distant murmur of thunder
Your heartbeat close by my ear
Clouds that are rent asunder
Wondrous things that I see and hear
Reflections without substance
In mirrors devoid of soul
Visages fashioned of mystery and mist
That peer back from bottomless hole
Shadows shaped from darkness
That take leave only on sunless days
Yet simply lie dormant awaiting the moment
The touch of reflective rays
Sounds and sights of days and nights
That the most of us ignore
Too focused to even notice that
They dwell just outside
…our door…
