Shyness
It’s alright to be shy. It’s alright to stumble over words or feel your mind go blank when the right person walks into the room. But silence has its cost, too. When we don’t speak, when we let moments pass untouched, something inside us feels the weight of what could have been.
My words may come out tangled, or I may seem distracted, but the truth is simple: there is someone who makes me smile even when I’m supposed to be focused on work. Yes — I see you when you’re talking to others. And yes — I look in your direction more often than I should. There’s a calmness about you, a gentle humbleness that radiates from your smile. A smile so warm and disarming that even the devil would abandon his campaign just to stand in its light.
You don’t know the effect you have.
Or maybe you do, and you’re just as shy as I am.
But here’s the thing: life is too short to stay strangers behind polite greetings and passing glances. Let’s step out of the small talk and into something real. Let’s sit down over coffee or share a meal and talk about life — not just where we work or what we do, but who we are beneath the titles and routines.
Let’s be known by more than our names and occupations.
Let’s be known by our stories, our quirks, our hopes, our laughter.
We’re both human. We’re both curious. We both want to know more, but we hesitate, afraid to cross that invisible line between interest and intention.
Well, I’m done hesitating.
I’m not afraid to ask you out.
