Shutters Locked On Yesterday

Shutters open
to catch a glimpse of the past
history locked in tragedy
the broken crime of time

Why can't you live in the present
Shutters open to catch a glimpse 
of the past 
a tragedy tapestry

you weave depression from history
My father said My mother did
if only I had, sadness repeated forever
shutters locked on yesterday

twenty years have past
yet everyday 
you relive yesterday
trapped in a cycle of pain

today is not yesterday
yet you throw away tomorrow
because, you can't let go of the past
you hide in the bottle
 
Reliving yesterdays pain
Shutters locked on a glimpse of time
people gone from your life
why did he do that why did he hurt me

why did I do that, why? why? why?
yet yesterdays gone 
why? do you live in the past
why do you let yesterday destroy today

Today you could laugh and joke
you could bake a Christmas pudding
even though its not Christmas time
you could stand up and shout this is me

You could exercise to build strength
you could improve you education
build a career and gain respect
with respect came societies approval

With success comes your families approval
When you combine exercise, diet, balance
granted money does not build happiness
but it does pay the bills

I suppose the reason why people hurt you
is that, people where also lost
some had drug problems 
some had alcohol problems

Some believed that violence and punishment 
was the way to teach discipline
some people show favouritism to one child
over another, some are blind to their own mistakes 

yet living in the past 
does not create solutions for your future
build a dream of what you want to become
to become like Evil Knievel

First become a mechanic
by becoming that Mechanic
you earn money to buy motor bikes 
and fix motor bike's 

Then you need to develop, the courage and skills
to jump motor bikes and perhaps kill yourself
I'm not saying that becoming Evil Knievel 
is such a good idea

I'm just saying 
you can become what you want to become
if you have a dream and build a plan
Shutters catch a glimpse of to past

but you don't have to live in the past
you want to travel to Disneyland
build a career perhaps an electrician
with the wages from an electrician

you can save to go to Disneyland 
so your mummy called you stupid
because you disobeyed her rules
that does not mean you are stupid

it just means you broke her rules
don't give up because others run you down
it doesn't matter what other people think
your success will change their opinion.
