as the innocent child cries
should we deny him
compassion and love?
should we blame him
for his father sins
when his father sheds blood?
should we ignore his plight
when all he wants is love inside?
should we sight ignorance
as we deny the innocent
with our words of demise?
should we deny him his freedom
because of our closed minds?
should we prejudice him
because of negativity we
have installed deep inside?
so should his screams
fall upon deaf ears?
should his tears turn us blind?
