Short Poem For Two Eyes
Though this single clipped rose
has now lost its soul,
I know of a lonely hand
that would be happy to hold it.
I know of one I have not beheld
in decades of dusty time,
A red-lipped briar I once enfolded
with whispering fingers,
To feel its life pulse,
the smooth iridescence
of its stubborn rise;
To see its slow effervescent bending,
and then to see it open;
Alas, I am drawn inward
by its onslaught of invisible maneuvers;
By its unseen whiplashings
of the atoms and the universes.
