Short and Long
Some people have a short attention span,
others have long-term capability
So for the sake of some of you,
I'll get straight to the point
As for the others,
I'll give a more lengthy point of view
I write short poems
for the mental insomniacs
Those who find it hard
to keep their focus on something too long
You know who you are ...
you got that thought in your head right now
You're searching for it ...
but you can't find it, because it has since gone
They need things to be kept
short and simple
A poet better not talk to long
Or the words they were trying to tell them
will get swamped in the mental muddle,
and weeds of digressed thoughts will have grown
Now the others, they're a different lot
I'm going to have to give them
poems that are kinda long
They like to think deep on things,
give thought with much consideration ---
there has to be some meat on the bone
You know who you are ...
you got all those recollections locked away
You can find it in an instant ...
stored thoughts saved just for a rainy day
A poet can speak as long as they care
This breed of reader isn't going anywhere
Just make sure that the focus stays firm,
give them something to tuck away and later learn
There you have it,
the short and the long
Yeah I'm out, yeah I'm gone
There you have it,
the long and the short
I left the ball, it's in your court
