Shooting Stars

A spectacular show enlightens heavens above
In ephemeral musings of burning meteoroids
Mimicking likeness of falling ornamental stars--
Beaming streaks of rainbow-colors earthbound,

When earth crosses trajectory of comet's path
Encountering in its way pebbles of cosmic rock
Colliding, illuminating in orbital trespass,

Elements of iron, copper, magnesium, silicone
Glittering within spectra of kaleidoscopic astral art;

Streaming down rockets of blazing stars--
Tinted meteor-showers flaunting nature's panorama
Fixating sights upward where constellations are,

In idyllic August venue gazing ashen sky
Exhilarated witnessing magical phenomenon;

Mesmerizing predawn with seductive stagecraft
Premiering its play slyly when moon's hiding out
And sun's yet to commence ascending golden arc.

I was out in Montana and saw so many shooting stars nightly we don’t see them too often on the eastern side of the U.S. so I was in awe.... you describe it so beautifully. I wish I would have been there for the actual meteor showers this month! Beautifully penned poem :)

As often as possible. I enjoy being in the tenderness of the sky, drifting in the calm that holds the night. Lingering on that cloud of white. Touching all the Stars. It seems you have taken me there again, through your words. Thank you for that. :) This is beautiful, magical and breathtaking- all at the same time. :) Brandy

This is brilliant Vijay, you certainly know your ' shooting stars '. People often call them meteorites instead of meteoroids by mistake. Have often seen them, the other night there was a perseids shower but it was too cloudy. Good luck
