His kids are beautiful!!!!

She was young, just 17 He was 21, just a little older They were in love, like a dream Together they learned about marriage and things Like riding horses and motorcycles and paying bills Together they filled up every hour With special ideas of hopes, wishes and desires They spent days at the beach, playing in the water Moments in the woods, camping and talking They shared a lifetime in those years, 23 in all And found they could never have kids Her one great desire Arguments came and went Sometimes they loved and other times hated Splitting up for days only to return with a sparkle of hope For the making up that would be like a passionate love affair There lives were so entwined that they truly were one When they stared into each other’s eyes And what she didn’t know Would that really hurt her anyhow? Finally, the time came to pass When the breaking up would last A quick divorce would do – no sorrows, only the truth Together, they didn’t linger on long good-byes Only shed a few tears and called a few times With no words, but only the mournful shreds Of evidence of the pain that would never quite leave Tears that tore at the souls… Of those two who had spent so many years Loving and living together in a dream world. After some time had past and she had one too many drinks She called him up to say hello He answered with a worried tone Quickly got to the point of his angst He had a girlfriend and “She’s pregnant” Having that baby that she never could have And finally, the end was a beginning for him For her, it was a little worse, Yet, in time… she learned to like herself more And became the friend she lost somehow When she lost the man she loved for all those years Through all those tears and fears Through a lifetime of giving in to a love That will forever live!

Are you writing about yourself? It's very interesting if so, done in the third person. Good writing. I really enjoyed the story of this doomed love. So sad for the woman of the poem, that her ex had the baby she dreamed of.

It is about me... I'm the woman :) It was sad, but we are still friends - not around each other a lot, but friends. Thank you. Love and prayers, Gina

A heartbreaking write Regina - to part after such a long time and then find out that his new partner is pregnant - must have been like a stab in the heart - oh it made me shed a tear but I do love the fact that in time she learned to like herself more and moved on. Hugs Jan xx

Regina, this is quite an emotional write done well. I enjoyed the sense of deepness expressively. This should do very well in the contest. Sending a hug, Verlena.

As I read it there were shivers going up my spine and now I'm sorry but I'm crying. You let me inside your pain and it hurt. Like the song, cuts like a knife. This is a very brave write. A cathartic read. I hear that all is well now but if I could I'd reach in deep and change your truth. With all the love in my heart thank you for this soul changing read.

How sweet and kind you are for caring. Yes, things are fine now - things were ironic, though. Love is definitely forever, though. Love and prayers to you and thank you for your kindness, God bless you, Gina
