Not a house Not a garage Not a place for tools I shouldn't be prescriptive Yet these have to be the rules A chair, a lamp A heater A kettle is the max A place of peace and quiet So that nothing then distracts I will allow a volume I will consume the words I will restore my whole With poets and the psalmists Strive to elevate my soul Turn away all of the gadgets Turn connection down to null Turn my mind to still and quiet Volume up on natural Orientate myself to try it We all need a sacred harbour We all need that peaceful place We all need to sit and dwell To pursue the 'inner sanctum' So internal noise will quell Do you hear me when I say this Do you sense the inner call Do you long to calm the din Find that place and don't deny it For that space is deep within

Yes, at times I think we all need that place of peace and quiet to let God restore our soul, but then we need people also. Thanks for sharing this one with us. Sara K

We are people of community it is true, I do often feel I need time alone to recharge and become a better me. It is such a rarity, such a valuable commodity, time alone w God in mind. Loved your comment x thanks, Sara!

So true, very well said, we all need a safe and peaceful sanctuary where we feel calm, its sad that so many cant get that. For me my safe place growing up has been not really a place or person but a book was always my place to go when i needed comfort or to just take my mind off things. I really love what you’ve conveyed here the depth of this poem and flow of it is impeccable. “For that space is deep within” i agree . we forget that peace comes from within: very well delivered!
