She Was My Dancing Partner

I stood to dance a drunken dance,
So I swayed toward her line,
With nonchalance and poise and grace,
I didn’t spill my wine.
And she stood still, didn’t move at all,
I had her in a trance,
As, with one free hand I held her waist,
And slowly tried to dance,
Yet she refused to move, budge or play,
She didn’t seem to care,
That’s when I knew I had to sit,
Because she was my chair.
