She Met a Man

She met a man that looked like her past, A ghost of a love that didn't last, She turned a blind eye and looked away, Hoping he wouldn't say her name. If it's not him, then that's okay, She'll move on and seize the day, But if it is, he should know, She doesn't care, she's over him, she's let go. As he drew near, a familiar face, A memory that time couldn't erase, He seemed to hesitate, a moment's pause, To greet her with a hint of applause. But she kept her pace and held her head high, With pride that she couldn't deny, For she had moved on, let go of the past, And found the courage to stand steadfast. The memories may linger and sting, But she's flown on, with newfound wings, He ignored her once, but she won't cry, She'll soar higher and touch the sky. So let him see, the new her, free, A soul that has found liberty, She met a guy who looked like her ex, But she's moving forward, no regrets.
