She Makes Me Smile
Satiny paw pads tap my cheek
and I awake to the tickle of
whiskers upon my nose.
With another morning begun,
a lulling purr produces a giggle
and I open my eyes to my furry friend.
Breakfast is a matter of egg-sharing;
but she prefers a little cheese
in her eggs.
Bored with the usual fare
I look up to find a yogurt
faced kitten.
It’s these precious and all too brief,
moments that produce new meaning
within each day.
