I stand at your place of repose,
for you have left me for Heaven;
I wept each day till day seven.
Since your death- my heart I expose,
you where twenty years old at death;
I held you till your final breath.
Sweet cat, I recall your last pose,
I am empty inside and numb;
and this grief I must overcome.
I have brought you a death mauve rose,
weeping, I place the sweet scent down;
my tears this sorrow cannot drown.
And in snow love will still impose,
making a memorial stone;
to find my love when time has grown.
And words of you I will compose,
till my hand cannot hold a pen;
when my head droops down- even then.
I stand at your place of repose,
since your death- my heart I expose;
sweet cat, I recall your last pose,
I have brought you a death mauve rose;
and in snow love will still impose,
and words of you I will compose.
