She Is the One

Intrigued, yet infinitely cautious was she The One? I had been hurt before thinking with my heart loving with my head It seemed I'd been down this road before love's bright hope being held out like a prize at the fair- "Step right up! Guaranteed winners! buy your ticket and throw the ball, nobody goes home without a prize!" Then the voice of an angel set off all my alarms waking me from that deep sleep of self-protection a moment of clarity One brick at a time my walls came down a robust bridge was erected which led me to a garden called "She is The One"

I could tell the poem came straight from your heart because of how thoughtful it was written. It seems like the first encounter meant a lot to you. Glad that the wall came down. Lovely poem!

Glad you decided to take a walk through that garden John. Wonderful write. God Bless, JB Sorry I pulled another disappearing act. Was two week in hospital with ruptured appendix. Then home with orders for total bed rest. Am doing o.k. now and getting stronger.

I really like the contrast of 'thinking/heart' and 'loving/head' - clever to switch it up like that! And comparing the prize of love to the prizes offered - but rarely won - at fairs and the like - and also the ending with the bridge leading to the garden - to quote from The Sound of Music 'may it bloom and grow/forever' - don't know why I thought of that - best wishes for the contest too!
