She Is My Shangri La
“Know, oh prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars.”
? Robert E. Howard, The Complete Chronicles of Conan
At times when stressed
I take myself a walk beside the sea
I step into a ‘dreamlike’ world
where I’m the only one ~ just me
The sea she feeds me energy
and lifts my spirits high
Her power is phenomenal
So on this ‘hazy’ summer’s day
a sea fret doth approach
‘Shadowy’ mists surrounding me
I cannot see it feels ‘unreal’
But wait I hear a distant voice
calling out my name
an ephemeral transient tone hath she
‘tis beginning to feel ‘surreal’
As she beckons me towards the sea
this mermaid is she ‘imaginary’
I am drawn to her ~ I feel ‘trancelike’
her golden aura ‘ethereal’
as she takes my hand we cross the sand
and slowly descend
to a place I call friend
it’s Atlantis
my spiritual home
a place I know
a place I go
inside my head
when filled with dread
It calms my soul
It stills my heart
Without her there is no escape
When all around no love just hate
She comforts me and keeps me sane
and welcomes me home time and again
Atlantis is my Shangri La
A magical mythical land afar
Beneath the sea I yearn to be
I’m Pisces ~ dreamy ~ spiritual ~ you see
I return to the sea when she beckons me…
