Joe Flach Poet Rhyme

She Built Castles

She built castles out of cardboard
She built castles in the mud
She built castles using blankets
With an imagination that I loved

She built castles made of Play-Doh
Drew castles on the Etch-a-Sketch
She built castles at the sea shore
Using seashells I would fetch

She drew castles with her crayons
And sometimes using finger paint
When I took her to see a real one
My little girl did nearly faint

When we got the bad news from her doctors
And tears welled up in our eyes
She said, “It’s going to be okay, Daddy
I’ll just go to the castle in the sky”

I remember my little Princess and how the castles she did love
And when we are reunited, we will live in that castle up above
