All packed and ready, she glanced at her watch Just some more minutes and she would depart Her face ashen pale, her heart was heavy Her lips quivered, her gait was so weary The blank walls stared at her the room so bare For years it had been tended with good care She moved towards the exit with a sigh Wiped a tear that rolled down from her left eye Cold winds lashed at her the sky a dull grey Her teeth chattered her nerves in disarray Was this now her world, in horror she cringed Freed at last yet her mind still imprisoned Date Nov 16, 2016 Contest any theme max 12 lines
