Shadows On a Pearl

Like shadows on a pearl
You entered my life
At the darkest of times
Surrounded by darkness
And the coldness of a tough life
You shimmered, you shone
You caught my attention 
made me look up
And hold my head a little higher
Even though you have your own shadows
Your brightness helped guide my steps 
To a life a little brighter.
