Shadows of Yesterday

He thought he knew your heart, but didn't bother to look. And then bragged to his friends; one glance was all it took. Your childhood fantasies, warped reality's truth. And hope's polished mirror, showed delusions of youth. Caught in a web of lies, your heart struggles to cope. For paper-dreams crumble; when only built of hope. Shadows of yesterday cast doubt on tomorrow. And it's hard to conceal your anguish and sorrow. Time dulls truth's cutting-edge, slowly numbing your pain. But it may take a while, before you smile again.

"He swore he knew your heart yet didn't even look." Bringing back memories... well portrayed lies and deceit, Emile.

Yes, Emile, us men can be a shallow bunch, with a sometimes throwaway attitude to the fairer sex. Lovely piece. Well done. Regards, Viv

Hello Emile, Very well-done here Sir! One can sense quite well the message and emotion of this write. Time is indeed a palliative, but deep emotional scars in life's run may never be perfectly smoothed over. This one's a "7" + FAV for me. Excellent Work!! Best Always, Gary
