Shadows In Candlelight

Feeble and hunched over his movement stumbles as shuffling feet echo in the shadows of a candle-lit forgotten church as the old priest performs his sacred rituals to a few faithful followers A commitment to the cloth harbourer of hidden secrets an unclaimed inheritance no longer passed on the last remaining elders keepers of unwanted wisdom take their secrets to the grave

I have written on this topic alot also, Eaken - this one captures the truth of the tragedy within the church. You are a great poet - glad to have come across you. I am from Tramore - and actually spent the New Year in Greystones with friends of ours. A friend of mine sent me an email about your work on Poetry Soup and asked if I had come across you - she loved your work. She said that you had written a piece on Woodstown! We are in a writing group together. Cheers to you. Liz

This one sounds eery. It reminded me of The classic story, The Lottery for some reason!

This is so sad to me Eiken, especially at a time when the world needs solid wisdom. Thanks for your kind comments. Congratulations for your win in your first contest here and once again, welcome to PS! Love, Audrey
