Shadows

Lost and alone.
In the land of shadows.
Blue skies coming thru.
I hint about it at times.
Though never really say it.
I wonder, do they know?
Can they tell by my words?
Or by my silence in place.
I've turned my other cheek.
As I pretend it never happened.
All those barbecues in days past.
I wonder if anyone really knew?

I relate, sadly. So many never know what others endure. Thought provoking poem here.

It's funny that you commented on "ouch". Your work here is about turning the other cheek. Mr. Kahn and others in positions of power (on the other hand) need to exercise a lot more restraint. I always say--beware of the bulldozer, t-rex, and previously caged escaped rhino type of individuals. These are people I try to avoid when possible. Unfortunately, it's not always possible. and they intrude into our lives. Then a different strategy is in order.

I think it is and was their loss. They missed out on the reflections of a gem. Hey, I just stopped by to say hi. Keep up the inner peace and thanks for sharing.

'...as I pretend it never happened,' some tragic event I assume to be some form of abuse. So sorrowful... and extremely well written. Best wishes, Keith
