Severely Mistaken

for what are you to blame
born into this world as a mere mistake
just as i
as a product of evolution, an accidental meeting of
sperm & egg
where only one of the 50-300 million sperm pumped out in one steamy moment
need connect with an egg
in order to promote the opportunity
should our 21st century woman decide on her own
that it is in her best interest to go through with it
to drag another life into this place &
watch it struggle, like the proverbial flower trying to creep its way up through the
sidewalk crack
scratching its stems all the way
screaming & hoping for one more glimpse of the sun
whilst the rain, snow & street sewage beats down upon it,
doing everything in its destructive glory
to take another life in the name of
complete & utter nothingness,
so that just as meaningless as its entrance was,
so shall its exit be?

anyone who claims that a responsibility to this place
comes from the very instance of our birth is severely mistaken,
for you & i hold no intrinsic “moral code”
or reverence for a “god” or “state,”
as all were preposterous illusions decided upon well before we were dragged into this place,
so that our mere abiding of others is but an honest tool of
survival, if only that---
any attempt at betterment of the situation owes nothing to preconceived notions,
as it is these very notions that brings us as a species to near extinction
every time that we think it may be so & then feel the need to
broadcast it on every major news network we deem necessary,
so that anyone who may not have been thinking about it on their own
is forced to worry with the rest of us,
over & over & over again,
routinely----
offered up by those whose selfish misgivings brought us into existence
we all dwindle in unison
to the ever fading beat of an attempt at
understanding
anything.
