Notes About The Poem

Reflecting on rising anger toward someone's behavior and realizing the futility of my feelings and the possible consequences.

Serenity Acceptance Patience

Serenity
	Acceptance
		Patience
If you wish for and
Pray for these Blessings,
Be prepared.

It’s courage you must pray for.
Trials and tribulations
Create
Serenity, Acceptance, and Patience.
As you Pray,
Get out of the way.
If your ego is driving,
Your hands on the wheel,
Ego owns the road.

Your spirit
Prays for Serenity, but
Your heart screams out
“Idiocy!
Get out of my way!”
Here, now, God grants Serenity…
If you’re willing
To Accept that
Your Ego
Can’t control another’s
Slow Roll.

Courage is
Fired and Forged
In the furnace of the struggle,
…The struggle of
Our Spirit to
Release our Ego’s attachments:
Rage, resentment, and
FEAR.

Let go of Control.
Embrace the Serenity
Born of the Strength to
Let Go.
Of course others are rude,
Inconsiderate, and self-absorbed;
Oblivious to our NEED to
Control them.

Let them go.
On in their oblivion.
Your attachment to their actions or
Attitudes will one day
Lead you
To your Oblivion.
