Notes About The Poem

September 11, 2001 Baby

on September 11, 2001 as the World Trade Buildings fell
a precious baby girl was born to our family
I was struck at the time about birth and death
oh, it was a beautiful Autumn day
the sky a perfect azure blue
and leaves gold, red and orange were falling
          and God painted us a baby . . .

Oh Constance, what a source of joy for your family as an unimaginable tragedy engulfed the world - in the midst of darkness a ray of God's light! Congratulations on your win! Thank you for that uplifting gift. Blessings.

SuZ, thank you so much for the compliment, I love that line too, and for the congratulations, Suzanne is my favorite name, it was my sisters name who died in childhood, I always wanted a baby girl and I would name her Suzanne in memory, but that never happened and never will, Constance

what a weird thing, Constance. it reminds me of a song a long time ago but I forgot the song. About a baby born and then the mother dies after giving birth to it.. Tragedy and joy together. Very nice. Congrats.

Even on that horrible day, babies were born. People celebrate birthdays on that date, like my wife. Awesome write, Constance! GL in the contest.

There are beautiful moments from that day. My granddaughter was born in December of that year. I love your imagery, Constance!

Kim, thank you so much for your lovely comment and compliment, yes, life went on though that day was so horrible, I can think of it as an awful day of death and destruction, or the beautiful day God us an angel, peace and tranquility ~
