Senses Breathing

    pearl pendant… pensive

    its wearer senses breathing...

      her heart's... stethoscope

Reminded of an old Italian superstition: one never gives pearls as a gift outright...it is OK but the receiver must buy the gift for a penny. Especially a brooch, warn so near to the heart. Peals can bring joy or tears. I will walk carefully under ladders, but some other superstitions I pay more credence.

Gershon, this senryu offers a gentle and intimate moment, nicely portraying a sense of mindfulness. Its brevity is both its strength and its limitation, leaving a desire for a little more context.
