Premiere Contest WinnerSelf-Existent Light

We all have light inside us.
The good Lord put it there.
Sadly there are many
whose light they do not share.

Each person’s light will flicker
deep inside the soul.
Choosing to ignore it,
you cannot be made whole.

You never want to look into
the eyes of those whose light
died out (or never even flamed).
Their eyes are black as night.

We can’t expect just overnight
our light to brightly glow.
We have to nurture it each day
and help the light to grow.

I’ve looked into the eyes of those
whose light shines easily,
Their self -existent light shines love
to everyone they see!

Congrads on your win with this meaningful piece. I notice my light being ignored with my absence from here. So this inspires.

Good Morning Andrea. Hi. My goodness, how beautiful is this entry. Very. You are the humanitarian within your entry here. Yes, we are all born with love and light and somehow some forget or lose them. May we all continue to journey with both. Have a wonderful morning and day. Thank you for the reminder that your entry brings. Blessings always (smile)

This is so on the mark. It's interesting how the light can hardly be seen when one's in the 'dark'

With masterful craftsmanship and keen perception, Andrea, you have composed a riveting and evocative poem, replete with vivid imagery. As I ponder my own luminance, I am reminded that its radiance may falter at times.

This is what I would call a Defining piece. Thinking of my glow it flickers on sometimes. I was inspired today to force it out in poetry. You surely felt it writing this piece. It's your gift to the world.

I watch lots of true crime stories and many abused women speak of their husband's eyes going black when they become horrific to them.
