Self Reflection

I don't need a mirror
to see that I am longing
for a chance to complete
this song that's been
playing all along in my heart
and I just want it to be free

I don't need a shadow
to know what I am
I am woman
filled with curves
and a lot of nerve
I want that chance
to get what I deserve

I don't need an opinion
to forge some misconception
I realize without criticism
that I desire affection
I see my sadness
as the ink dries on paper

I don't need a diary
to see the changes
that have been happening to me
I have developed into such a lady
in waiting like a princess waiting to be queen

I know there is so much more
out there that I haven't yet reached
and now I see that it's these thoughts
that define the inner me.
I don't need anything but my poetry
If ever I were in need of an autobiography
