Seek Shelter

His strength was his forte, but she was his weakness
She played with his emotions from the start,
He seemed oblivious to her true motives
and he would often seek shelter
in the bosom of her beguiling heart

She had cast her seductive spell
 Now he was her puppet
She pulled the strings to make him dance
 Dangling him for her amusement

He was mesmerized by her beauty, seduced by her charms
His strength could not save him
 from her deceitful ways
The devastation of her betrayal left him broken

A woman can either make or break a man. Men sometimes think that beauty is the most important, but some very beautiful women use their beauty to their advantage and manipulate their husbands till they break. Very sad but true. All the best Joseph and hugs and blessings Jennifer GOOD LUCK IN THE CONTEST

Powerful emotions so well articulated. A wonderful take on the contest theme, Joseph - "he would often take shelter in the bosom of her beguiling heart." Such a sad commentary on what we sometimes don't see or don't want to see as we are manipulated by a person without empathy or compassion inflicting pain for their own entertainment. Powerful poem filled with feelings from both parties. So well done. Best wishes for the contest. Blessings!

There are some who are so deceitful at heart, but show a pleasing facade. Some fall easily into their trap and get doomed. The predicament of the poor man is poignantly brought out ! Great entry dear Joseph. All the Best.

Many in the world are just like the woman in your poem. Manipulating every emotion. That's wrong on so many levels. This is tender and emotional, all at the same time. My best to you, Joseph. Hugs, Brandy

She certainly took advantage of his desire for her to good effect leaving him broken. Sadly you often hear of this happening. Good luck in the contest. Tom

This perspective offers a profound insight. Betrayal is an inherently agonizing experience, and its aftermath invariably brings about enduring sadness.

Betrayal is always painful and the results from it can only lead to long term sorrow.. a good take on the prompt..

What a unique and brilliant take on this prompt. So many i see today In similar situations, blinded and under the spell.. oblivious to the motives and intentions of another while falling madly in love or maybe infatuation. I love how you’ve written this because most of the time we r about men being puppets but theres seriously no gender for such things. And anyone can go through the same. Goodluck in the contest

His weakness broke his heart. A beguiling heart was no the shelter he was looking for. Well done to match the theme given, Joseph.
