As one moves further on in years, one journeys further inward to understand that reality, the true reality of life is very fast approaching (mortality), and though perhaps one may think their time has been wasted, there were/have been/are lessons we are delivered and were sent to expierence/learn/deliver to others. The approach of the “true” reality, seems much closer than it ever did. I’m not so sure about the use of the word “brilliant”, I have a “need” to get things out in this format (just as other writers/poets do, I am not alone on that front) - but it seems to me I am becoming a little more enlightened with each write. One sometimes thinks, “did I write that?”, or “did something use me as a channel” – perhaps this is all part of the madness of writing poetry. I have written about “automatic writing” before in comments I have made, in my poetry and in responses to other poets (here) in the past.

I have always been ultra open-minded. I am not religious. While baptised Anglican, I do not follow any religion. However, if I believe in ghosts, then I must believe in all things ‘supernatural’. All things, i.e. both Light and Dark. I would say I do have a spiritual side to me, that I embrace, in more ways than one. I am sure I am not the only one who looks back on their journey and understands, that there is a purpose in the Life we have been given, or that we have chosen - warts and all. It takes some time to come to that conclusion, for others it is much faster.

It seems to me,that through the hardest times,we are made to see in one way or another,exactly why we were sent here,or were given the choice to take this particular journey. Surely a part of the lesson/message/purpose, is about strength and resilience, but also about 'faith' in that all inclusive "I Am".When one considers 'faith',then 'trust' and 'respect' enter the arena. As for 'forgiveness', that is a difficult one for many to get their head around, especially when one considers Russia/Ukraine at present. For some it seems like a most terribly arduous journey, with much heartache, loneliness, trying to understand “purpose” and the reality we live. And if “God” exists he must be a cruel God. But I do not think that is the case at all. When one considers Jesus Christ’s journey and the message he was conveying to all of us at the time of his crucifixion.His crucifixion was real.His message must not be for nothing, he believed enough,for us to believe what he embodied.

However much joy and abundance in life there is for others, there are those who are thrust into circumstances, like Ukraine (and there are other countries brutalised by war in the past and continuing wars), that appear to those with a more ‘human’ less reptilian mindset, horrifically brutal and pointless. The way children and families were executed and decimated by Isis, also comes to mind, especially persecution of those with Christian or other beliefs outside of the extremist religious beliefs of Daesh.

One asks oneself, continually, if there is a “God”, why such senseless carnage of a people, the brutalisation and murder of innocent children (including rape of innocent children, along with the women). The pointless execution of people who wanted peace and no part of this war.

We may think we are a world away from Ukraine, but we are not. The Ukrainians are human just like us. They are now being ‘exterminated’ by something sinister, born or possessed of evil, sitting in the Kremlin. Something far worse I think, than that other Nazi Monster who masterminded The Holocaust. We are witnessing another Holocaust, the genocide of innocent people. One wonders how much worse this will get, how far will it reach and what domino effect. The prophecy in the Bible seems eerily accurate at present. There are other books of Religion/Culture, that are also quite similar. The story has been written ahead of time for us. People joke around it, the evidence is before us, unravelling and being disclosed daily now.

We are all living in an era that is determining our true humanity, what our true purpose is and why we are here, living in this time. I chose the piece of artwork, after I wrote this poem. I came across it randomly, which was peculiar in itself. It is obviously a modern rendition of Mary and Jesus. It could just as easily be representative / symbolic of a woman and child in the Ukraine with the blue sky and gold fields, the colours of the Ukraine flag (Blue and Gold/Yellow). The people of Ukraine need protection of the highest order and the support of all ‘humanity’ more now than ever. If God is in all of us and God is the “I Am”, surely there is a point to our existence, to save each other as well as ourselves in the most altruistic/unselfish/courageous way possible. One considers Christ's journey to the Cross and the message he was delivering to all of us, that of “Christ Consciousness”.

The artwork, could also be symbolic for any mother and child (for any parent or child). The art is by an Australian artist, who hails from Brisbane, Queensland. Jan Williamson, is a past Archibald Prize winner. It is titled “Mary of the Southern Cross” and it is housed in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba, Queensland, where I resided with my family during my teenage years. There is no such thing as coincidence, in me seeing this piece of art for the first time this past Easter weekend. Nor for me writing the poem. Nothing in this life is a “coincidence”.
