Seasons
Summer
a sea that is blue
long days
with little to do
not a cloud in the sky
so still and silent
but for the seagulls cry
golden warm sand
run grains through my hand
a bright yellow sun
Oh! so much fun.
Autumn
Summer must end
as sure as the turn of the tide
autumn burst forth
chilly winds from the North
shorter cold days
and darker still nights
warming hot drinks
by a glowing firelight.
Winter
first flakes of snow
beginning to fall
circle of nature
embracing it all
a world that is sleeping
winter berries bursting to life
a world turning white
such a joyous delight.
Spring
the first signs of spring
are beginning to show
it seems long ago
when last it did snow
a weak watery sun
shines through trees
and only occasionally
you get a cold breeze.
Full Circle
soon long hot days are set to return
and a bright yellow sun is going to burn
just think of the changes that each season brings
from the wildlife scurry to the robin that sings
a landscape once buried beneath a blanket of snow
watch the children- their faces aglow.
