Seasoning

A sprinkle of fear
A pinch of doubt
You pepper my brain
To quiet my mouth
You keep stirring the pot
My dreams round and round
Adding more liquid
Hoping they'll drown
You think I'm oblivious
I can't place the taste
But I know your ingredients
I simply placate
Inside I'm simmering
My passions still raw
All that brain seasoning
Tastes like nothing at all
So you can keep trying
Every mental recipe
Just know you'll never
Burn the life out of me
