Seasonal Color

Why can’t you stay? Your pretty views
are skies’ cerulean and the blues
of sweet wild blooms that I can see
beneath a sun that shines for me
like lemon crests on cockatoos!

Watermelon and honeydews -
I savor flavors in chartreuse.
But lilac days, how soon they flee!
                                          Why can’t you stay?

Your lavender of June imbues
my soul with joy. Bring no adieus!
Let coral sun gleam endlessly
on aquamarine of a sea
turned tangerine. Bright saffron hues -
                                          Why can’t you stay?

yes, I love it when Summer's OVER, lol! I love Autumn and everything within the Fall! I hate the heat, I lived in Texas for 20 years and got so sick of the heat! But the winters there were magnificent...just like your poem, so wonderful! (like my segue there?) I really enjoyed reading your beautiful poem here this morning Andrea...you have amazed me yet again how you put all those colors into a Rondeau! Very impressive! Great Work!!

Green and red and frosty white. When Spring comes we bid adieu. It's not the same when Summer's through. Just finished a watermelon. MMMMMM. :)

Robert Frost famously wrote "Nothing gold can stay". Stimulating poem! Recently I had 3 poems in the Amulet poetry magazine. This website is very supportive of poets! Peace & Love Matthew Anish
