Searching for a Dream

I searched endlessly for my dream. Impossible to find is what it seemed. Hoping one day I would find the light. That light came to me when you came in sight. I felt something special about you, and I was right. When I met you and got to know you I was done searching, because I found my dream in you. My dream wasn't about fortune or fame. I had love in me, and I sought a woman who felt the same. I made a list of everything I wanted in a woman. I ended up drawing a picture of you. Time passed, and our feelings for each other grew. Grew so much that I got to that point where I finally knew that I loved you.

Was this a recent therapy write or did you NEED to pen it for that purpose years ago? (read below) and, no, it isn't your style but it's the style of a poet who needs to pen pain to release it to some degree. I regret the pain you have hopefully made 'friends' with like a companion that won't leave. I know pain. Pause - hugging you. Pain makes great poets - a flute can't play beautiful notes until it first feels the pain of a knife's blade (jest of something I didn't make up) CayCay

Writing is my way of getting my feelings some air (so to speak) and this was written after my first wife had died and I had, after a long period of loneliness, found someone I fell in love with. Writing this was my thoughts at the time, my way of easing the grief of loss and anticipating the joys and love of the future. So maybe I did NEED to write this for the purpose of therapy, but it didn't seem so at the time, it just needed to come out. Your friend, Ron

The search was a product of the loneliness following the death of my first wife. Yes, it did seem endless. Thank you for the compliments, I'm pleased you liked it, this poem was a departure from my usual work. Thanks again! Ron
