For the contest, "Stardust and Venom, Birthday Prompt, contest," by Sara Jama
As I slip into this void of endless black, I wonder: could I be but dreaming? Is there an end somewhere to this madness? Or, is it something I hold gently in my heart, for fear its love might bruise me. Did I, in haste, submit to its temptations-- the color of rainbows and lavender clouds, reminding of childhood’s daily wonders? Yes, I do hear footfalls, but they’re my own as I search, reach, reach for the loss… Can I, somehow, reclaim the grandeur that I once held so lightly in my life. Can I find it again—the dream so lovely, Or, is it now but a memory: Irreplaceable Youth.
