Notes About The Poem

"The urge to write poetry is like having an itch. When the itch becomes annoying enough, you scratch it." - Robert Penn Warren

-----
A Sam Scott poem:
24th October 2023
-----

Listen to poem:

Scratch the Itch

Illustrious
Phantom
You chase
My desire
For satisfaction
As I chase you
Hither and thither
Like the rainbow's end
Always just out of reach
Escalating intensity or just
A trick of the cruel mind
Dancing across my skin
Infiltrating my sanity
As a ghostly feather
Until I find your
Illusive hiding
Place
Ahh

Thanks Joe (ooh.. *stops to scratch*) as poets we sometimes have the privilege of scratching the itch for others before they even realise they needed it. Keep that pursuing for the elusive answer Joe and thanks for hopping in :)) SamS

What a brilliant quote! Ive never seen that before but that resonates with me so much. For some reason when i dont write a poem everyday i feel like something is missing and i feel heavy, like i need to release that, and when i do i feel so much better, as for your poem, i mus say i love the flow and how you’ve expressed here! So good! Especially the rainbow line is so creative! And also the ending is so natural! You really are so eloquent with your way of words! Brilliant one! Sending you light
