You feel you'll never find love; no matter how hard you try. And yet, you still cling to hope; wiping a tear from your eye. You have little left to give; emptied of all but your soul. And your social life's askew; a square peg in a round hole. You're led to believe you're loved; only to be hurt again. And yet, you crave love so bad; that you tolerate disdain. The problem is that lonely hearts settle for scraps of love. And when they still feel empty, they curse the heavens above. Sleep offers little relief; it's but a means of escape. From outside reality, dreams cannot alter fate's shape.

There is a lot of sense in this poem, Emile. For many, it is hard to find true, sincere love; then they lose hope, give up and make do with artificial alternatives. A closer relationship with God would be beneficial to them. Regards // paul

Hi Emile, another great work. You have the talent to be able to assess and portray human anguish. Especially that of women who seem to allow themselves to fall into the same controlling relationship trap again and again - How can they be taught? I am beginning to think that besides being a 'purveyor' of fine poetry, you help people in real situations - otherwise how could you be able to be able to quote all this - Big 7 ...Maria

Thank you Maria, most of my poems are driven by empathy for another's pain, Emile.

I would say sir EMile that hope is what is important here, its never a bad idea to cling to it, even if all fails.

It's hard to be young these days, and hard being their parents, too! Only GOD can help, but will we ever truly ask GOD what advice He offers? One thing He does seek is "purity/holiness/apart-ness: 'Be ye holy as I am holy,'" (Leviticus 11; 18,19,20,21. Quoted simply in 1 Peter 1: verses 16-17.) BTW, always a great day when u visit my writing/s. shalom

I am glad for people with empathy like you are. You write poems about important problems we can struggle with while thinking we are all alone. Your quatrains are wonderful.
