In a country where our Declaration of Independence reads, "“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness," that answer alone should have been grounds for disqualification, but SCOTUS has become entirely political. Further, she would not provide a definition for a woman, indicating that "she was not a biologist." I have no issue with her race or her sex. We have a black man and several woman justices. No issues there whatsoever!!! Not supporting a common understanding of natural rights is disqualifying, IMHO, but congrats to her, she's confirmed. Elections have consequences. Just calling 'em like I see 'em...

All U.S. Supreme Court justices take an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States. That is their baliwick. I watched the hearings, and I was shocked at the questions she should NEVER have been asked! She is a well-qualified, experienced judge who rightly refused to get drawn into the ridiculous arena many of the senators wanted to draw her into. That's my opinion. I have never seen such grandstanding in my whole life! She'll be a fine justice. That the minority party walked out while the Senate was applauding her confirmation was absolutely shameful!

Hope 'the historic pick' feels good, having been handed a job on the Supreme Court, for crying out loud! on a silver spoon... I shudder to think what we've got here... Well, can't be any worse than Sonya S., can she? ~ Don't Answer that, Please! lol

People are people watchers and like to point fingers. People like to bend and twist words to make them mean or seem to mean whatever suits their fancy. People sometimes like to make up their own soap operas just to amuse themselves. The more People I see the more I like my dog. A fine write my friend. God Bless, JB

I am in agreement with you. Truths are spun like a magician "look here, not there". It is a new day with a governing administration whose goal is to alter the tenets of Constitution et al. and by easing into cover-ups and false narratives that the media spews people are blinded to the real truth~the consequences of their ignorance. :)Paulette

How would one define a 'natural' right? Is it the same as one that is unalienable? Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are things for which we strive, but those three words mean so many different things to so many people. I refuse to walk a fine line at their definitions, except to wander along the path of what they mean to me. I'm trying to ignore political writings. So many have led to PS controversy, and there's far too much of that around already. Thought provoking, Jeff.

Yeah, I know, politics... John Locke's natural rights, and the ideas associated with that and with limited government, formed the basis for our own. Having a discussion about what they are and what they mean seems very meaningful, but refusing to reveal a position just seems wrong to me. Oh, well, I do appreciate your comments!
