Scent of Autumn A scent of urgency carried on the wind filled my nostrils with a whiff of a smell I knew quite well, “Autumn was adrift.” The trees, still green, didn’t fool me one bit (Chatter as they will in the breeze.) I was attuned, to that crisp, paltry air carrying the portentous message. Fall was on the hunt, and now the days would flutter by like leaves on the wind then a wisp of snow followed by a squall and winter would be here again.

I've experienced a morning on Cape Cod like the picture depicts and like you poem describes and Fall scurries on and Winter crawls near. A FAV for me to enjoy seasonally. Thank you for sharing your poetry with us, Dennis. Have a peaceful week, my friend. Bill
