"scenes of Fall"

Pumpkins carved and placed
a carpet of leaves scattered
the fall moon peaks through
as a cold brisk wind follows
to sounds of branches snapping.

smells of wood burning
carry through the air swiftly
filling the night sky
glimmering stars like candles
spread out over this evening.

Your tanka makes me miss fall all over again. Florida does not have a true autumn season and I love the sights and sounds and scents your poem brings to mind.

Gosh, this is so nice, Michael. I know one of the fall tanka contests was supposed to use three tanka. FYI, in case it was this one. Loved that last line!! andrea
