Scars From a Heart That Burned
Beyond fair reason I shall think of you
In fallen grass or gently flowered field
To have seen those fleeting times fade to blue
Now distant thoughts that silently will yield
A memory that trembles ever soft
A hazy vision of a face once kissed
I'm whisked to midnight skies and stars aloft
This quiet afterglow now reminisced
A shadowed door from candle light so still
An empty chair a fading silhouette
Forgotten time or love's unyielding will
As flames to ashes, traces two who met
A hand that brushed a cheek that love did know
A kiss remembered from so long ago
