Scars

Be kind to one another

There are bruises and cuts
That for a while hurt
But then they disappear
Never again to be seen.

Then there are wounds deep set
That don’t let you forget
These wounds leave a scar
Like a permanent mark.

They affect your looks
They leave you insecure
They impair your demeanor
And can alter your nature.

Likewise there are wounds to the heart
Those just as well leave their mark
Like words spoken in anger
So like echoes of thunder.

A look of hate
A deed of pain
Leave deep scars
Twisting the strings of the heart.

An act quite rude
A will of abuse
Cause deep wounds
Shattering trust and moods.

An expression of disrespect
A feeling of neglect
Leave a mark so deep
Causing faith and hope to cease.

However love has the power
To erase the mark of scars
To heal all wounds however ugly
Restoring a spirit to its original beauty.

Be kind to one another
For pain leaves one with a scar
It may be forgiven
But it is not easily forgotten.

Caroline, we all carry some scars from past deeds. It is important to remember that our words and actions have consequences, but love and forgiveness can "heal all wounds." I felt o much peace reading about the restoration of the spirit. Beautifully written once again from your talented pen. Love, Carolyn
