Savior of the Damned
I walked among the lost and lonely
Listening to song and story
Beneath a temperate twilight
The evening was ours
If only for awhile
They looked upon me with shining eyes
Speaking of hopes and dreams
And all they wanted to be
A chance at a new life
Was all they wanted
They sacrificed it all to get here
Leaving behind
War, famine, fear, and subjugation
For this new world
Facing all too familiar anxieties
The truth is so very bleak
In the dead of night they come
And children lose fathers and mothers
Who knows where they'll go
Or if they'll ever be seen again
We could be the savior of the damned
And condemn a nation of fear
And those who spread hate
The chance is ours
If only for awhile
