Saving Animals

taking animals home
from a kill shelter
is not a hobby
or a right
or a mission
it is a given
i have done it nineteen times

The animals need us and we need them. Good for you, Caren. I have two rescues right now. Thank you for writing this poem.

I love dogs and cats, and I am deathly allergic to cats.

And still not enough, I'm afraid, Caren. I think I would do this, too, if I didn't travel so much. We've always had dogs and cats, but since Deb is gone, I can't seem to bring myself to adopt again. Don't know why. Think sometimes my travel is just an excuse to be selfish!

Traveling would make an animal sad; you must wait until you are ready to stay home and cuddle.

Caren, I have friends who are fostering dogs. Kill shelters take a heavy toll. Our two dogs are both rescues and we have fostered in the past. Good for you for stepping up. John

I probably have rescued 10 cats too, I only included the dogs.
