Santa Claus
what's Christmas for little Matilda,
a little girl some place in Brazil
what's Santa for little Tomas,
a little orphan some place in the dry north,
two different kids, two different sides of the globe
two kids with a common back ground,
poverty
grown deep inside them
Tommy heard the name Santa from a story he heard read,
yes from that delicious smelling book a white guy had given him
that's the greatest gift he had ever had,
it wasn't Christmas but it was his best Christmas
little Matilda came cross to Santa,
yap, that old chap that looked like Moses,
she cried, mummy have seen Santa
but why is Santa dressed like us,
he's got the beards, but why are his shoes torn
she ran along and hugged him
and the old chap painted a smile,
that was the best Christmas gift the old man had ever had
for once in a harves tmoon someone thought he was human
little Matilda was Santa Claus to the old chap
she had given him a Christmas joy
Santa Claus,Santa Claus
give someone a smile and you deserve the name
bring forth the joy and be Santa to someone
