Your clerihew captures the essence of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain. By highlighting his sharp wit and the discomfort it caused among the pompous, you reflect Twain's reputation as a humorist who often satirized societal norms. The reference to his pen name, Mark Twain, which he adopted from a riverboat term meaning two fathoms deep, adds depth to your verse.

My all time favorite writer. My great uncle was an English prof at UT at Austin and his area of expertise was Twain. Some of his writings on Twain are in the Stanford University library. I am very familiar with his life including his stint as a riverboat pilot. Thanks for reading Alesia and I am glad you liked this piece.
