Salt and Light of Earth
Mirth giving worth, O salt and light of earth!
To those corrupt and dying in the dark
Most destitute, deprived of dual birth
Devoid of truth, with cold divineless spark
Where canst thou find a glaring contrast stark?
Their conversation make them seem most odd
As fire consumes the chaff its dried up bark
Desires to be as holy as their God
For love of which a godly path they trod
While this unholy nation misbelieves
That think God favors when he spares the rod
And savors those to whom the spoil he gives
They perish not, nor grievous joys receive
For those who lay their lives that sin might leave
