Salmon Patties

S-Salmon patties were daddy’s special dish;
A-as kids, we would beg him to make fish knish.
L-Last week, my brother arrived on appeal
M-midst my adventure to fix this same meal.
O-Oddly enough the croquettes turned out grand;
N-not to brag, for bro had given a hand.

P-Plainly peeved, my youngest turned up his nose
A-and so, my brother a wager proposed.
T-Try one, eat it all, I’ll give you a prize -
T-those new earphones on which you've got your eyes.
I- It worked though a trick accomplished with guile,
E-easing one down with ketchup brought a smile.
S-Seconds, his choice, made the meal/deal worthwhile.

Thanks, I grew up on salmon patties of one kind or the other. My own kids? it was not their favorite but they survived and learned to eat them occasionally. Linda, I appreciate your interaction with my piece.

My husband always had to have a bottle of ketsup to get those patties down and it always had to be in a biscuit. LOL..Sara K

Cute story you worked into this. I don't even like salmon unless it is made this way. Congrats on a great win

I thank you Andrea for the honor of a first placement in your contest. I order it as an entree occasionally in restaurants; but at home I fix it almost always as salmon patties.

Your "Salmon Patties" is a fun Acrostic write. This sounds sooooo good. They make a great sandwich. Looks like you are cooking, then I am eating. "Good Luck" I did, "Tomato Soup." Have a fun day writing away............

And thank YOU for commenting before the judging. So many times, if a placement is not won, the poem goes unnoticed by "the public audience". I appreciate your time and energy; returning a blessing to you too, Ghairo.
