Sailin’ Away

(Or, The Whaler)

Everybody wants a piece of my action
Everyone wants a piece of me
Time is money — no satisfaction
All I want is to get myself free

I became famous —
Vulgar and shameless —
I didn’t take notice of the heads I was steppin’ upon
Now I’m in rehab —
A one-legged Ahab —
The white whale of my glory is all but gone

So I made a decision —
Soon I’ll be sailin’ away
Today was like a drowning
But tomorrow's gonna be my day

I’m all holed-up in the captain’s quarters
The deckhands are havin’ an orgy out there
To some, thr quiet life is torture
But baby, to me it’s a breath of fresh air

I became famous —
Vulgar and shameless —
I didn’t take notice of the heads I was steppin’ upon
Now I’m in rehab —
A one-legged Ahab —
The white whale of my glory is all but gone

So I made a decision —
Soon I’ll be sailin’ away
Today was like a drowning
But tomorrow's gonna be my day

Calling Ishmael, calling Starbucks
Calling anybody who will listen
If I got your attention, I’ll be like Christ
In the third day that he’s risen —

‘Cause I made a decision —
Soon I’ll be sailin’ away
Today was a shipwreck
But tomorrow’s gonna be my day
