Safe

The breeze plays with my hair
Cool and soothing
Winding round and round
Clears my head
Takes away frustrations
And let's me forget
The sun is warm and bright
As it beats on my back
The only noise
Happy chirping birds
Flittering around
Sounds like music
The whistling wind
Leaves that rustle
And whisper my secrets
That lay close in my heart
The world is far away
And nothing could take me
From my island of sanctuary
My green forest of escape
My refuge, a haven
Where no one can find me
Here I flee so I can stay
In a place hidden from the world
A river of rocks
Cascading down
Twisting, turning,
Taking shape
No one would suspect
Just by looking at it
The peace it brings me
In a place I have found
Memories scattered around
Littered stories untold
All around me they lay
And in them I see
Others like me who come
To escape reality
But now it's just me
And I'm finally alone
No one to watch, criticize
In this small world of my own
